WoW Pelican Bay Canoe to Clam Pass

 A short notice trip for a perfect day had 3 WOW members and a guest. Sally had canoe experience which is different than kayaking. She successfully coached Colette through the hairpin turns to avoid getting tangled up in the mangroves. We even did some back paddling as an alligator swam towards us. I (Ruth) have been paddling with my mom (the guest) in these waters for over 20 years and only this year have we seen the gators deep in the mangroves. We also saw a Wood Stork, egrets, herons, pelicans and more. The mullet were jumping. As always, coming out to the Gulf through Clam Pass looks different every time. Today the waves were crashing on the beach but the current in the pass was still.
